Cinci Han was founded in 1645 by Karabaszade Hüseyin Efendi (Cinci Hodja) who was among notables in Safranbolu.Though the architect is not known for certain, it is supposed that it was built by Mimar Kasim, one of the leading architects in that epoch. There has been no document found about the building of the inn such as architectural project..etc.It was built with the experience and manual skill of the artisans who were brought up as ‘devsirme'.

As building material rubble and hewn stone, and in their combination Horasan plaster were used.It is a two-storeyed building built by using 28 X 28 x 3 cm bricks in its vaults and domes. On the ground floor, there are 26 Bedrooms, Deve Ahiri, Public Toilet, Fountain and Courtyard, Portico between the bedrooms and the courtyard. On the first floor, there are 37 bedrooms, public toilets, dining room, and the portico in front of the rooms; on the second floor, there is the Room of Inn Agha and above this Observation Tower. In addition there are two repositories beneath the ground floor. There is a 3 meters-long stream beneath the Deve Ahiri on the southwest, through which the waste water of market center and public bath flows.

This stream was fortified with a stone arch, and that part of the inn was founded on the stream. The slope of the natural ground where the inn stands is about 45 %.Also next to the wall of the south face there passes The Akcasu River. As you see, the building of the inn is made in those strings attached in that ground, by the technology of the time 4 centuries before without having any infrastructural project, or any static plan..etc.This inn built completely with manpower is one of the most improved models of the Ottoman inn architecture. The inn, bath, and 50 (fifty) shops, the Palace and its appurtenance were all built in a very short time.

Cinci Hodja had been invited to the palace by Kösem Sultan in 1642 to treat Sultan Ibrahim I, and eventually after this event he acquired renown and wealth. The settlement deed had been arranged in 2nd of April, 1645, so all of the remembered works were made in about 2,5 years.
